Kitchen Renovation - Updating An '80s Kitchen

By Home & Cabin   2017-03-06

Transform an ’80s layout and look into an open space for entertaining – that was the task given to Charli Junker of Your Space Our Design.

The home, a split level, had the kitchen, living, and dining room plus an entry hall on one level, each contained by walls. For a family who enjoyed entertaining, and wanted to chat with guests while preparing food and drinks, this layout wasn’t working for them.

Charli’s solution was to remove the walls, using a large island to separate the kitchen space from the living space.

The kitchen was replaced, with the new version showcasing a large granite countertop on the island, complemented by a faceted backsplash.

The cabinets have a traditional look, in keeping with the homeowner’s personal style.
